Second Skin
Growing up in Indonesia, traditional textiles are a significant part of our life, where it becomes a part of our cultural identity. It is designed and based on the philosophy and soul of the artist. Second Skin represents my heritage and a contemporary take on the notion of textiles by exploring the relationship between fabric and identity. Through this body of work, I seek to understand how identity is formed and expressed through the use of fabric. The interplay between still life, bodies and colours serve to act as an analogy of our identity, to depict how we choose to be perceived in society.
