Look @ Me
Look @ Me is a personal critique of social media and a look at a selection of the various types of people that inhabit this world. Mimicking typical styles of photography that dominate Instagram, Look @ Me attempts to expose some of the hidden realities behind the more popular personality types and to highlight some of the absurdity and sadness behind the need to attain popularity. The project uses a voyeuristic aesthetic to emphasise that we are now watching others at all times, through virtual profiles and posts. Women are estimated to spend 17 hours per week using apps or the internet, this means that even though we may not be posting, we are still ravenously consuming content from other people.
