Market Boutique Hotel. 10 Mill Street
This final project, located in the symbolic Liberties neighbourhood, aims to join past and present together through the historical Mill Street building and the new construction of the boutique hotel. My client is the radical street artist Jean Michel Basquiat. Throughout his work he expresses themes of social differences and a fixation for the human anatomy. When it comes to the design, my vision for the artist through x-ray analysis of the building, teaches us about its background. Originally built as a Dutch Billy residence located in one of the first trading areas of the old Dublin. Which lead us the concept: the exchange, of culture and commerce. The hotel takes the name in reference to the other existing markets in the area: Iveagh Market, Moore St. Market, Ball Market, etc. where trading took place.
