‘Rhyme and Poetry’ is a documentary that explores what it means to create art in an ever-expanding global village. In this age of diversity, cultural assimilation has been a challenging factor for kids growing up in international cities. This documentary follows two young hip-hop artists from either side of the world and places them together to discuss their perspectives and approaches to music. The polarised personalities of both artists, JyellowL and Tac, allows for an incredibly important discussion regarding cultural identity and the reflection of society in the metropolitan cities they grew up in. This film questions the philosophical complexities of how westernised art is interpreted by artists with culturally dissimilar views, and how it can evolve into something new.
